Voici le pitch de Erepublik que m'a envoyé Alexis en accompagnement :

Erepublik is the combination of a MMOG and a social network; it’s a “Massive online multiplayer social strategy game”, a new thing.

The Erepublik world is a browser based replica of the real world in a 2D & text environment, integrating a political, military and economical simulator. It relies on its social networking engine not only for viral growth but also for game play, replacing AI. Erepublik’s UGC platform allows it to grow exponentially, 99% of the Erepublik content is created by its community of citizens.




In its next version Erepublik will also include an apps platform so that its functionality modules can have the same exponential growth rather than solely rely on its internal development effort.




Erepublik citizens can interact with each other, create original content, follow their political, economical or military aspirations and even change the course of history; all in the environment of their actual country or city, thereby maximizing realism and user’s emotional engagement.




The Erepublik private beta was launched on the 20th of Nov 2007, there are now (31/01/08) close to 10,000 citizens from 43 countries actively testing and providing feedback and ideas. Average age is 27.




Since beta launch, Erepublik has had 500k visits and over 9 million page imp; the average user visits the site once per day for 14 minutes. It also won a special jury prize at LeWeb3.com start up competition.




In 2007, 217 Million people played online games regularly, 50% speak English and the MMOG market is worth over 2 B $ (8 M play WOW = 1 B $). The virtual goods market is worth: 200 to1.5 B$. The US videogame market is worth 7 B $, strategy games = 30,8% of that.




The Erepublik.com team consists of 2 co-founders: Alexis Bonte (CEO), ex lastminute.com, and George Lemnaru (CTO), plus a team of 8 developers, designers and editors based in a dev centre in Bucharest.

J'ai également reçu une invitation pour Small Worlds - superbement développé - mes premières impressions : un Habbo-like avec une cible moyenne 18-30 susceptible d'attirer les Habbos devenant trop agés pour le monde Sulake. Le mécanisme d'achat d'objets virtuels est le même : une chambre à pimper / le concept global aussi : du social networking en temps réel.




Mais quand on tape Small World dans Google on tombe évidemment sur A Small World... ça + le fait que j'ai passé 2 heures hier sur Gandi à chercher en vain un .com pour une idée - de browser-based d'ailleurs -, + le fait que tous les articles de la 1ère page de Google sur mon nouveau caméscope JVC Everio datent de 2005 et sont donc complètement irrelevant, font que je l'ai un peu mauvaise  ce matin contre les domainers, les référenceurs et le All-Mighty moteur de recherche - et que j'agrée de plus en plus avec de tels articles.
